Fee The only fee is $35 per student for a minimum of 35 students. (Additional students over 35 are $25 each).
Schools with fewer than 35 participating students may group together with other schools in their area or pay a slightly higher fee per student. There are no additional costs for travel to high schools within a 300 mile radius of Kansas City.
The ACT Success Workshop includes:
• Diagnostic Testing • Workshop (3.5 hrs) • Free Student Access to College Prep Success Website Diagnostic Testing—Prior to the workshop, students will complete a condensed, 2-hour ACT using answer sheets provided by College PowerPrep. Upon receipt of the tests College PowerPrep will provide, at beginning of workshop, a two page analysis of each student’s performance with suggestions for improvement. School administrators will also receive summary information on student performance. To see an example of the individualized student report, click here. Workshop — The 3 1/2 hour workshop provides students with specific strategies and skills necessary to improve their ACT scores. Each area of the ACT is covered—from English Usage to Math, Science Reasoning to Reading—allowing students to learn what is covered on the test and how to maximize their scores.
For each area of the ACT, students are taught specific, proven strategies with which to approach the questions and then given guided practice using those strategies on actual ACT questions. The workshop also outlines for students the information they need to know, from rules of grammar to math formulas, to be successful on the test.
College Prep Success Website— All students in the participating high school can use the College PowerPrep Success website for the remainder of the semester, Free. To see a demonstration of the website, click here. The website will be customized using your school name and mascot. (Schools desiring to continue use of the College Prep Success Website for subsequent semesters may do so at a discounted fee).
This site is a “must have” for college bound students, including:
* Strategies for ACT test preparation * ACT Test Prep Software * Scoring and analysis of three full, actual ACT exams with score analysis (using tests provided in “The Real ACT Prep Guide” (the only official ACT Prep from the makers of the ACT). School administrators are provided with online reports on student progress on the tests. * College rankings, scholarships, and financing.
School Responsibilities * Administer a 2-hour condensed ACT using Preparing for the ACT (provided to high schools free by the ACT). Instructions for administration are provided by College PowerPrep. After testing, mail the answer sheets (provided by College PowerPrep) to College PowerPrep at least 10 days prior to the workshop.
* Copy workbook for each student from master provided by College PowerPrep.
* Provide classroom space and access to data projector for the workshop.
* It is strongly recommended to have each student purchase a copy of The Real ACT Prep Guide or sample tests from ACT.
About the Presenter Robert Haynes, PhD. is Founder & Creator of College PowerPrep and is a co-author of SuperCourse for the ACT, published nationally by Prentice-Hall. He developed College PowerPrep to provide internet-based testing preparation to students and high schools worldwide. For over 20 years, College PowerPrep has provided school workshop and classes for students in the Kansas City area. Dr. Haynes holds three Master’s Degrees and a Doctorate in Child and Developmental Psychology from the University of Kansas.
